Institute of Ecological Agriculture DIO

The Institute of Ecological Agriculture DIO is a non-profit organization founded in 1999 with the aim of scientific support and promotion of ecological agriculture in Greece through documentation, research, dissemination and awareness. It has an eco-centric philosophy and a wide field of activity which approaches ecological agriculture issues from technical as well as social aspects. The purpose of the Institute is the promotion of ecological agriculture in Greece through different activities such as the organization of educational seminars on topics in the agri-food sector, the issuance of certificates of suitability of preparations (fertilizers, plant protection products and compost) for use in organic agriculture and informing the public.

Actions to support fire victims in North Evia until now

After the devastating fires in North Evia in August 2021, we took the initiative to collect money in the bank account of the Institute in order to help the local community recover. The account of our actions since the beginning of the action as recorded until today.
  • On 30/09/2022, 600 kg of beekeepers costing €800 were delivered to the village of Kerasia. The €400 was collected by the Endless Paper Industry initiative through the action which supports the beekeepers of North Evia to recover.
  • From 11/08/2021 to 10/01/2022 €15,000 have been deposited into the Institute’s account.
  • Electrical devices, small appliances and a computer worth 1500 euros have been purchased for people who lost their belongings in the fire.
  • 5 tons of bee food have been allocated to the villages of Papades, Kokkinomilia and Kerasia.
  • 10 tons of fodder have been delivered to the village of Kechries and neighboring villages, covering a significant part of the fodder needs in the region.
  • 500 kg of extra virgin olive oil has been delivered to the village of Kerasia.
  • 1 ton of extra virgin olive oil ‘IONIS’ worth 4,000 euros was delivered to the village of Achladi, meeting the needs of 130 families.
  • 170 new hives were purchased and delivered to the villages of Achladi and Papades in North Evia.
  • At the same time, the needs are also recorded in this way and our next actions are planned.
